This toy has no volume control and it is way too loud for any baby, let alone a parent. It’s annoying voice gets stuck in your head and it will drive you crazy. My four year old is relentless with it (it was given to us as a gift for my newborn, but I won’t get it near him, because the sound is so loud). That said, I think it actually taught my daughter some spanish words…but still, it’s not worth the pain you will go through. Why don’t they install volume control on these things!!!!

I was a little worried about the volume issue mentioned by a previous commenter. When the toy arrived the first thing I did was check everything out. I do not find this to be a particularly loud toy. As long a the child didn’t squeeze it in the middle of the night, I don’t think there would be a problem (It would be a little disturbing to wake up to the tinny, sing-song octopus voice).
It’s very cute, and I think all little ones would enjoy the colors and sounds!

I bought this for my 6 month old granddaughter. She is now 9 months old and still loves it. She seems to be attracted to things that are blue, she plays with this toy daily. She likes the rhyming best!
